Physical Education

Welcome to the Physical Education Department

All students at The John Bramston School follow a compulsory course of Physical Education lessons from Years 7 to 11. Through years 7 to 9 students will complete blocks of work within the following National Curriculum areas:

  • Athletics activities
  • Games
  • Gymnastic Activities
  • Swimming
  • Dance

In year 8 students also have the opportunity to complete a course in Outdoor and Adventurous Activities at Mersea Camp.

Through years 10 and 11 students will have the opportunity to experience some new activities along with some of the ones they have covered in previous years (e.g. fitness training).

Each course is designed to allow students to experience physical movement through a range of sporting activities. Students learn through experience and develop socially by interacting with others. As well as participating fully students should plan, understand and evaluate their own work and the work of others.
