Academy Status Proposal

The Governing Body is continuing to explore the possibility of the John Bramston School moving to Academy Status in federation with Greensward College and the Rickstones School having submitted initial “Expressions of Interest” to the Department of Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) before Christmas.

Government Ministers considered these “Expressions of Interest” , and have formally given their approval for the next stage of the process to begin.  This takes the form of a “Feasibility Study”, a significant element of which involves consultation with parents, staff, pupils and the wider community to seek their views on the closure of the three schools and the setting up of academies to replace them

The proposal is to discontinue the John Bramston School on the 31st August 2008 and to open a new Academy in its place on 1st September 2008.
