Students' Impressions

These comments were written by students in a questionnaire produced by Keele University.

“When you start at the school everyone is really helpful and you can settle really quickly.”

“The teachers are kind and they help you to learn from your mistakes, but they expect you to work hard.”

'I really enjoy the clubs; I’ve had a chance to go to music, dance and drama.”

“There are plenty of visits organised by the school. I’ve been able to go to Prague, the Ardeche and watch England at Wembley all in one year!”

Sixth form comments.

“I’m really proud of being at this school. It was only when I thought about the next stage of my education that I realised all the good things of the last five years.”

“In some ways it’s a big step up to the Sixth Form from GCSE but there is plenty of advice from teachers and students throughout year 11 which makes it easier to cope with the changes.”

“The atmosphere in the Sixth Form is good because you are encouraged to work hard but there are also plenty of fun activities”

Parents' Comments

“I came to the school and I have been pleased to see how much it’s moved on. The school also has a better reputation now in the Witham area.”

“We are pleased to see the emphasis on smart uniform and good discipline as well as the rising academic standards.”

“My daughter came back from her first visit in year 6 and was really impressed with all the facilities, particularly the computers and opportunities for sport. Now she’s at the school, we like the regular feedback from the half-termly reports so we can see the progress she is making.”

“I am very pleased that my son has been identified as having above average ability and has attended his first extension day. I hope this kind of encouragement continues.”

“Students say that they enjoy coming to school. They show positive attitudes to their work, concentrate well and are willing to answer and ask questions. Many take part in the very good range of extra-curricular activities on offer at lunchtime and after school.”
